Meet New Level
American Haflinger Registry
High Point Driving Horse for 2009
New Level, a.k.a. Alex, is a 2005 Haflinger gelding who started out his show career with a very successful first season. He was bred by Owen and Henry Schlabach of Apple Creek, OH. Alex’s sire is Nando, a Dutch Import, Silver Classified, National Grand Champion Haflinger stallion who is owned by Bill Hendershot and Deb Parker of Hendershot New Millennium Haflingers in Cameron Mills, NY. His dam is Shea’s Delight NHH, whose sire is also a Dutch Import.
We first spotted Alex as a young weanling out playing in the pasture with his half brother. As they were running through the pasture you could see way back then just how much of a float this horse was going to have to his stride. We told both Owen and Henry that if and when they were ready to sell this colt to please let us know, we would like to have first option on him. We kept a close eye on him for the next couple of years and then fortunately for us the “boys” were ready to sell him in the Fall of his three year old year. We asked how much they wanted for him and we sealed the deal right then and there.
We brought Alex home, let him meet many of his half sisters and brothers, since we stand his father, and we just let him “be a horse” that winter. Once Spring hit Alex was sent to our driving trainer, Nicole Cable of Silver Shoe Farm in Batavia, NY. Thank you Nicole for doing such an outstanding job of training both Alex and Bill!
A few of our bright spots during the 2009 show season were:
New Level, with Bill Hendershot as the Whip came home from their first ADS show as Novice Whip Champion from the My Lady’s Manor Spring Show at Spring Valley Park in Winterstown, PA.
We went to the Northhampton Driving Show on the west side of Rochester, NY, where we met a lot of new people and felt very welcomed by our new friends and competitors.
On to the Silver Shoe Show in Batavia, NY, which is always a well run show and a lot of fun with a lot of friendly competition and a lot of great food to eat after we are all done showing horses.
The Buckeye Haflinger Show in Ashland, OH, where Bill and New Level won the Pleasure Turnout class, the Open Working Pleasure class and placed second in both the Open Driven Reinsmanship and the Working Pleasure Gelding classes. Deb also drove Alex for the first time in the “Green as Grass Driving” class and came out the winner.
Western PA Haflinger Show in Meadville, PA, where Bill not only drove him in all of the driving classes but he also garnered the Grand Champion Gelding title as well.
We went to the gorgeous location of the Lorenzo Driving Show, in Cazenovia, NY, where Bill and Alex came home the H.O.P.E. (Haflinger Owners Promotional Enterprise) High Point Haflinger out of a total of 17 Haflingers showing at that show among the close to 100 horses.
The East Aurora Driving Show, in East Aurora, NY, is where Bill and Alex went through their first actual full water obstacle on the Marathon with quite the splash.
The New York Gold Classic Haflinger Show in Horseheads, NY, where Alex was just one of the seven Haflingers we were showing at this show in Halter, Dressage, Trail, English Pleasure and all of the Driving classes to boot.
Our last show of the season was the American Haflinger Nationals in Springfield, OH. Bill and Alex finished the 2009 show season as strong as they had started and both horse and driver were more then ready for the season to wind down.
In the end, they ended the year as the 2009 American Haflinger Registry High Point Driving Horse in the nation and they are looking forward to defending their title yet again in 2010.
See you some time in 2010!
Fall 2009/Winter 2010 News
After a very intense but super successful 2009 show season:
The horses are all turned out in run in sheds to grow their winter coats and just be horses.
The carriages and cart are are at the carriage restorer in Ohio for complete going overs and repainting.
The show harnesses are cleaned and put away for the winter.
The horse trailer is unloaded of all the "show stuff" and stored until Spring 2010.
The plan is to come out in Spring 2010 with three driving horses under the guidance of Nicole Cable of Silver Show Farm.
Watch for Bill Hendershot again with his driving gelding New Level.
Watch for Chuck Hendershot debuting with his new driving mare Rhoda Mae.
And watch for Deb Parker to come out with her riding horse Millennium Treasure under harness.

Spring 2007 News
The 2007 Nando “kids” have started to arrive!
2007 came in with a bang with the birth of our filly Razz Ma Tazz at 8:50 pm on 1/1/07. She was early, but everything with her birth was relatively uneventful and Razz is now growing like a weed. This is her mother, Rexel’s, third foal for us but her first filly, so we are very excited about that. As you’ll see from the pictures of Razz she also has a nice full blaze. Keep an eye out for Razz Ma Tazz at a show near you in the future. She has very large shoes to fill to keep up with her two brothers who have multiple wins to brag about including an SIP win at the 2004 Nationals, the win of a weanling colt class at the 2005 Nationals and an over all Grand Champion Stallion all ages at the New York State Breeders Show in 2006 just to name a few.
February not only brought record cold and record snow accumulation in upstate New York but also our second 2007 foal. New Millennium Magic was born at 1:50 am on February 11. This colt is out of our own daughter of Nabucco, Lustige WULF, and it is her first stud colt. She has already had two fillies for us. Her oldest, Lasting Impression now resides in CA and her second filly is Bill’s personal favorite show horse, Limited Edition.
March brought a new home for one of our Nando geldings, Nomar. He is heading to Tonya Cooper’s for his Spring under saddle training and then on to be a Pony Club horse. Stay tuned for his progress over the next few years. We are sure there will be a lot to tell.
April, the snow has melted and the mud has arrived – ugh! The two foals are growing up fast and we are anxiously awaiting our foal out of Bastia, our Abendstern daughter.
May starts a very aggressive summer of showing Haflingers in NY, PA and OH. In 2006 Bill ended the year as the Grand Champion Driving horse for the American Haflinger Registry, so Deb, not to be out done by Bill, has the goal for 2007 to have Millennium Treasure the Grand Champion Riding horse for AHR. Stay tuned for her progress.
For those of you who have Nando “kids”, please keep us updated on what you are doing with them and what they are doing for you. Also, if any of your Nando “kids” are for sale, please send us details with a good picture and we would be more then happy to put them up for sale on our website at no charge to you.
